World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)

WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) is an international CEO-led organisation with over 200 member businesses with a combined revenue of more than $8.5 trillion, working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. The Council is also connected to almost 70 national and regional business councils and partner organisations. WBCSD’s mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world by making more sustainable businesses more successful. Their vision is to create a world where, by 2050, more than 9 billion people are all living well and within the planetary boundaries. To achieve this, WBCSD promotes such programmes as Factor 10 (ten-fold improvement in resource efficiency within WBCSD's vision of new circular economy) and Food & Nature Programme (as economic development is outstripping planetary resources, system transformation in the areas of food, nature and water is vital). In addition, WBCSD actively calls for policies that are consistent with ambitious action on climate, and enable business-led solutions to scale and speed implementation of the Paris Agreement. They strive to create clear and consistent climate policy across industries and geographies through dialogue between business and policy-makers and global collaboration among business leaders.
