A new ERA-NET, focusing on climate change risks for food value chains and food systems transformation, is currently being prepared. During the proposal phase, several preparatory meetings have taken place involving FACCE-JPI, the Belmont Forum and Leap Agri. This new ERA-NET Cofund brings together funders from 10 European Member States and H2020 Associated Countries, from 7 African countries, and from 4 Central and South American countries. The total research budget allocated for the first call is approximately EUR 16 million, including European Commission top-up. The expected impact of the coordinated research will be on assessing consequences of climate change on food and nutrition security, and providing solutions for transforming agrifood markets towards sustainable and resilient food systems in a global perspective.
